In Pokémon Zeta/Omicron the player will be able to obtain one of three different Starter Pokémon in both the Vesryn and Aroma regions when playing the game normally.
Summary
Vesryn Starters
When the player starts off in the Vesryn Region they will have the ability to choose a starter Pokémon from an emergency Pokémon supply. When playing the game with the Solo Run mode enabled, the player will have the ability to choose from any non-Legendary, first stage Pokémon (and Marill) that has had a quality follower sprite made for them, but otherwise the starter will correspond to one of those listed below:
All three of these starters have had their evolution methods modified. Each Pokémon evolves into their second stage at level 16 (except Horsea who evolves at level 15) and then into their third stage at level 38; items are no longer required for these Pokémon to evolve. To compensate for the power differences between each of these evolution lines, each of the starters has had their stats slightly modified as compensation.
The player's starter decision will also affect the appearance of a number of other Pokémon both in the wild and used by trainers. For instance, the player's rival, Jake will always use the starter that has a type advantage against the player's choice. Professor Oak's assistant, Jeremy, will then use the starter that has a type disadvantage against the player's choice later in the game. Jeremy will also give the player the starter that the rival has right after the player chose his in Zarivar Town's lab. Later on, a wild starter corresponding to the one on Jeremy's team can also be found in a house in Fianga City. When doing a Solo Run, these choices will all act as if the player had chosen Bellsprout.
Aroma Starters
In the Aroma Region the player will start a new adventure and will be given a new starter as a result. These starters are identical to those given to the player in Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald versions:
The player will also receive a Mega Stone corresponding to their Aroma starter later in the Aroma Region. The player's starter choice will also affect whether or not they receive Raikou (Mudkip), Suicune (Torchic), or Entei (Treecko) later in the game, as only one can be obtained per save file without trading.
Stat Modifications
Listed below are the modified Base Stats of each of the starters and their evolutions in Zeta/Omicron. The number in parentheses indicates how much of a change this is in comparison to their original Base Stat.
Each of the Vesryn starters has also had their movesets modified in Pokémon Zeta/Omicron to give them slightly more use. View any of the sections below to see what each of the starter's level up moveset looks like in Zeta/Omicron.
